Cornerstones laid by Bremond Lodge 1883-1933

  • September 1, 1884 -Viney Building at the corner of 26th Street and Washington avenue (one of the few cornerstones that were laid for a private business).
  • July 16, 1887- Washington Avenue Methodist Church at 26th Street.
  • September 13, 1888 - St. Paul's Episcopal Church on 25th Street (where the current City Hall now stands).
  • November 24, 1891 - Warwick County Court House on 25th Street and Lafayette Avenue (currently named Huntington Avenue)
  • October 20, 1899 - First Presbyterian Church on 32nd Street.
  • November 2, 1899 - St. Paul's Episcopal Church on 34th Street.
  • April 16, 1906 - Chestnut Avenue Methodist Church.
  • December 12, 1906 - Grace Episcopal Church on 22nd Street.
  • August 21, 1909 - Calvary Baptist Church on Huntington Avenue.
  • September 22, 1920 - Hilton Village Baptist Church.
  • March 26, 1921 - Tabernacle Baptist Church on 30th St.
  • September 10, 1921 - Hilton Village Presbyterian Church
  • October 21, 1921 - Temple of the Newport News Hebrew Congregation on 32nd Street
  • January 10, 1922 - Masonic Temple Building, corner of Washington Ave and 33rd St.
  • August 8, 1925 - Ivy Memorial Baptist Church on Kecoughtan
  • July 30, 1927 - Chestnut Avenue Methodist Church (building rebuilt following a fire)
  • September 17, 1929, Educational Building of the Orcutt Avenue Baptist Church.
  • April 30, 1932 - Chapel of the Peninsula Memorial Park.
