Colonel Louis Bremond
Was born in Norfolk, Va., in 1829. Early in life he became agent at Shadwell, and in 1854 agent at Keswick, Va., for the Virginia Central Railroad, which in 1872 became part of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway. About that time the railroad was extended three miles east of Richmond, Va., through the Church Hill tunnel and in 1873 he was made agent at that terminal. In 1881 the C. & O. Rwy. was extended to Newport News, and on April 24, 1882, he became the first agent here. He lived here about three years, then returned to Richmond; in 1888 he was made agent in Norfolk, Va., retiring in 1890 and returned to Richmond. He was made a Mason in Widows' Son Lodge No. 60, Charlottesville, Va., later affiliating with Dove Lodge No. 51 of Richmond, Va., in which he held dual membership until his death, which occurred March 4, 1892. He is, buried in Hollywood Cemetery.
