November 17, 2011 - District Deputy Grand Master Invested
Rt. Wor. G. Tom Mainwaring, Past Master of Bremond Lodge, was invested with his jewel by the Worshipful Master at the November stated. Rt. Wor. Mainwaring was installed at the 2011 Grand Annual Communication to serve as the District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District 14B.
October 20, 2011 - 2011 Past Masters Night
At the October Stated, the Past Masters were honored with a steak dinner and recognition during the meeting. Wor. Patrick Murphrey provided a short program about Past Masters and what they can bring to the lodge. Nine past masters were present for the evening: RW 'Pete' Eure, RW Larry Richardson, RW Billy Brady, Wor. Tom Mainwaring, Wor. Herb Smith, Wor. John Mattison, Wor. George Hollngsworth, Wor. Jack Holland, and Wor. Patrick Murphrey.
August 18, 2011 - Official Visit of the Grand Master
The evening of Thursday, August 18th found the brothers gathering for the monthly stated. On the agenda, the official visit of hte Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, Most Worshipful John Mason Chamblis Jr. and the presentation of Community Builders Awards to Dr. Asby Kilgore, Superintendant of Newport News public schools, and Walter Segaloff, founder of The Achievable Dream Academy.
June 18, 2011 - Bremond hosts Table Lodge
On Saturday, June 18th, Bremond Lodge hosted a Table Lodge in honor of Sts. John Day. Most Worshipful Bill Rorer was the guest speaker with 20 brothers in attendance.
February 17, 2011 - District Deputy Visits Bremond Lodge
 Wor. Steve Urban, Rt.Wor. Bill Potocki, Rt. Wor. Frank Long
On Thursday, February 17th, Rt. Wor. Joseph Frank Long, District Deputy Grand Master for District 14B made his Official visit to Bremond Lodge. Prior to the meeting, the brothers were treated to a dinner of chicken breast on rice and sides. In addition to Rt. Wor. Long, Rt. Wor. Bill Potocki of District 14A and Worshipful Masters Jim Freeman(McMahon), Jason Conka (Warwick), Richard Rawls (Poquoson) and Jeremy Utt(Smithfield Union) were present representing their groups.
January 1, 2011 - Wilroy Sammons Memorial Oyster Roast
New Years Day 2011, the brethren of the lodge continued the tradition of gathering for steamed and fried oysters as well as hot dogs and hamburgers and black eyed peas. Although the current tradition of gathering on New Years Day for Oysters was initiated New Years day 2001, this year was the 2nd Annual Wilroy Sammons Oyster Roast, named such in honor of Wilroy Sammons Jr., who sponsored the roast years ago and was reinitated in 2001 by his son Wilroy Sammons III. This year saw over 170 brothers their family and friends gathered at noon to consume steamed and fried oysters, hot dogs and hamburgers. New friendships were made and old ones renewed, a great day and time was had by all.
December 18, 2010 - Poinsettia Delivery
Saturday morning ten brothers gathered at the lodge to carry on with the Bremond Lodge tradition of visiting our lodge widows before Christmas. By noon over 40 widows were visited by the brethren with wishes of a prosperous year and a small token of a poinsettia for the season. As with every year we were saddend by the fact that some of our widows had passed during the year, but more distressing was not being able to located a few. If you know of a Bremond or Peninsula lodge widow that wasn't visited, please let the secretary know so that we can update our records and not miss them next year.
December 2, 2010 - Annual Stated
The Annual Stated Communication held on Thursday the 2nd of December was an event that was enjoyed by all. The evening began with dinner with entertainment provided by the A Capella group "Expansion" from CNU and a presentation by Bro. and Gov. Jim Gilmore. During the meeting, in addition to annual reports, the officers for 2011 were elected and appointed. Elected were:
- Worshipful Master - Steve Urban
- Senior Warden - Steve Young
- Junior Warden - Bill Smith
- Treasurer - John Mattison
- Secretary - Herb Smith
- Senior Deacon - T. J. Shaughnessy
- Junior Deacon - Sam Persons
Open installation is Saturday, December 11th at 7 P.M., brothers, family and friends are invited.
Don't forget the 2nd Annual Wilroy Sammons Memorial Oyster Roast to be held on New Years Day from Noon until 3 PM, steamed oysters, hamburgers and hot dogs, all Brothers, briends and families are invited.
November 18, 2010 - Junior Wardens' Night
The theme of the November Stated communication was Honoring our Veterans. The Heros of '76 presented their 'Building the Flag' presentation and all members and visitors who were currently or had served in the military were recognized and thanked for their services. Of the 39 brothers present there were 18 representing the Army, Navy and Air Force.
October 30, 2010 - 2nd Annual Masonic Youth Night
On Saturday, Emera Chapter No. 31 O.E.S. joined with Bremond Lodge No. 241 to host the 2nd annual Masonic youth organization day. Members of the Order of DeMolay, Jobes Daughters and Rainbow Girls were invited to share information about each of their groups and to perform one of their ceremonies. The DeMolay presented the flower talk followed by the Rainbow Girls explanation of the Rainbow colors as well as a tribute to the national flag. The Jobes Daughters finished up with the Pantomine to the Cross. Following the presentations and explanations everyone gathered in the socal hall for pizza. The evening was special and well recieved, with a surprise visit by Most Worshipful William E. Roerer, Grand Master of Masons in Virginia.
October 21, 2010 - Past Masters Night
At the October Stated, 21 members of Bremond Lodge who have served as Worshipful Master were recognized for their service with a steak dinner and a special meeting to honor them. The eveing not only saw the recognition of the Past Masters, but two brothers, Rt. Wor. Sonny Williams and Bro. John Mitchell were presented with their 50 year veterans emblems, and 5 brothers, Don Athearn, 'Mo' Elmore, Kenny Kilgore, Ed Blacburn, and Gary Hodges were presented with thier 25 year veterans emblems.
In addition, Rt. Wor. James 'Sonny' Williams was honored as Treasurer Emeritus in recognition of his many years of service to the lodge in that position.
September 16, 2010 - Community Builders Awards Presented
On Thursday, September 16th, the members of Bremond Lodge No. 241 (Newport News) presented Newport News’ Chief of Police James Fox and Former Fire Chief Kenneth Jones with the Community Builders Award. The awards were presented to Chiefs Fox and Jones in honor of their service to the Newport News community and their over 80 years combined service in the field of public safety.
The night began with a great dinner prepared by Emera Chapter No. 31, Order of the Eastern Star. After dinner, Bremond’s Worshipful Master, Patrick Murphrey welcoming members and visitors to the lodge and providing a brief history of the lodge and the Community Builders Award. Newport News Mayor, Dr. McKinley Price brought greetings from the City of Newport News and thanked the lodge for recognizing these two great public servants.
Most Worshipful William E. Rorer, Jr., Grand Master of Masons in Virginia brought greetings from the Grand Lodge and joined Worshipful Patrick Murphrey in presenting the Community Builders Award to Chiefs Fox and Jones.
In accepting the awards, both Chiefs Jones and Fox expressed their gratitude for the recognition and paid tribute to the efforts of their fellow public servants comprising the Newport News Police and Fire Departments. They also thanked Bremond Lodge and all Masons in attendance for their service and contribution to Newport News and all communities across the nation.
Special guests in attendance included Newport News Mayor McKinley Price, State Senator John Miller, Delegate Robin Abbott, Delegate Glenn Oder, and Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney Howard Gwynn.
The event was covered by Newport News Public Television and will be featured on a future segment of the “Inside Newport News” television program.

August 21, 2010 - Annual Ice Cream Social
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM and that was no different on Saturday afternoon wlhen the members, families and friends of Bremond Lodge gathered for a few hours of fellowship and Ice Cream served by the officers of the lodge.
From young to old there was something for everyone, if you didn't want 'plain ice cream' there were a number of different toppings, brownies, and cookies to enjoy. The building was filled with laughter as everyone was enjoying themselves and the company of both new and old friends. Join us next year if you missed us this year.
